Once upon a time, there was a couple who decided to move to Washington State in 1969 and settle in a darling little 4 bedroom, 1 bathroom home amongst a quaint community called Lakewood.  This family soon grew and with great fortune, heard the pitter-patter of feet running about the house and backyard oasis.  The kids grew up playing in the 3 lakes that jewel Lakewood; Gravelly Lake, Waughop Lake and Steilacoom Lake as well as within their own lovely neighborhood hopping from house to house, yard to yard.

karen10They excelled through the Clover Park School District system yielding one of Clover Park High School’s famed Daffodil Princess’s.  Over the years, the Father of the household built many-a bird houses to add to the magic of the yard attracting sparrows, swallows, woodpeckers and more to rear their own feathered families.

They planted a bed of raspberry bushes that is so lush and established you can fairly smell the raspberry pies and jam being made in the newly updated kitchen. Also adorning the yard are robust Rhododendrons, lovely Lilacs, a strawberry patch and too many other festive flowers to name.

As the kids of the family grew and went on to establish their own new chapters in life, they continued to return to their roots and visit their Mom and Dad as time went on.  In 1996, Lakewood incorporated and in 2004 formed its very own Police Department who patrols and engages with the community in a strong partnership to help maintain the excellent quality of life and environment this little city can provide.  The City of Lakewood is 18.95 square miles, 1.78 square miles of which is water.  The City abuts Joint Base Lewis McChord, and is within arms reach of the magnificent Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier and Chambers Bay Golf Course.  The City of Lakewood itself is home to the Tacoma Golf & Country Club with its legacy dating back to 1894.

Just recently, as parents have passed on to their heavenly oversight, the home was updated with a beautiful kitchen and bathroom, new carpets protecting original hardwood floors dowstairs and refinished, exposed original fir for the two upstairs bedrooms.

So, wouldn’t you love an opportunity to nestle into this beautiful hidden treasure, picture yourself and your loved ones barefoot on the incredible covered porch, bbq’ing hamburgers, sipping iced tea and nibbling on Raspberry pie still warm, dotted with a scoop of vanilla ice cream?  Then, as dusk hits, wander inside to sit in front of the gas fireplace reading bed time stories to relax the mind and body prior to slumber……that’s what I’m talking about!
